The House

The House is ideal for a large group - As well as an absolute beachfront location, The House offers plenty of space, various options for accommodating groups and the full range of facilities needed for a relaxing holiday  or special occasion gathering.

  • 3 spacious lounge areas where you can rest and hear the waves rolling in. The upper level has 3 TVs, radio/ DVD player. The ground level has TV, radio/ DVD player.
  • Sleeps a total 13 people (5 br) in a mix of queen and single beds. All linen provided.
  • Well equipped utility spaces with all mod cons - 2 equipped kitchens (each has stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, cutlery, utensils),
  • 4 bathrooms (one has full bath), 2 laundries.
  • BBQ on each level.
  • All linen provided. BYO beach towels.
  • Car parking for 4 vehicles.

 

The Region - Things to Do and See

Port Fairy is central to some of the most scenic and historic places in Victoria. Loch Ard Gorge and the Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, Portland, Victoria's birthplace, the Southern Grampians, Mt Eccles and Hamilton, Wool Capital of the World are all within an hour away Sea fishing is a must when in Port Fairy. Dangle a line off the wharf or head out on the water. Don't forget to pick up your lisense at the Port Fairy Sports & Toys on Sackville Street.

 

Come and experience one or all of Port Fairy's Festivals such as the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Winter Weekends, Port Fairy Spring Music Festival or the Ex Libris Book Fair. Take in a round of Port Fairy's magnificent 18-hole golf course, surely the most scenic in Victoria with superb views of Port Fairy Bay. Enjoy the hospitality of the lisensed club rooms; visitors are most welcome.

Search for the Mahogany Ship believed to be in the sand dunes east of the town, but is it fact or fantasy? Collect the Mahogany Walking Track guide from the Tourist Information Centre. Follow the Historic Walks Mapavailable from the Tourist Information Centre. Look at the decorative features of each building; intricate barge boards, fancy chimney pots and wonderful old cast iron doorknockers.

 

Wind powered electricity generation is here. Take a tour of the Codrington Wind Farm. Victoria's first and largest. More about the windfarm  Browse around the Historical Society Museum . There are lots of old costumes, shipping relics and photographs of early Port Fairy. Open Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and school holidays, 2 to 5 pm.

Visit Mott's Cottage, headquarters of the local branch of the National Trust. This interesting building dates from the 1840's and is furnished as a working man's home. Succumb to the lure of the sea and take a boat trip around Port Fairy Bay. Trips leave from the wharf area (weather permitting).

 

Dine "al fresco" at one of our picnic or barbeque areas. Find a shady tree to relax under or perhaps dangle a line while lunch is cooking. Follow our " Shipwreck Walk Trail " available from the Tourist Information Centre. The trail highlights 4 wrecks in Port Fairy, the most noted being the "Thistle" owned by the Henty's and wrecked in 1837.
Visit a volcano, Tower Hill State Game Reserve (midway between Port Fairy and Warrnambool) is a haven for native flora and fauna. It last erupted a mere 7000 years ago!
